Qatar Airways will increase its Doha–Malé service from 12 to 21 weekly flights from 25 October 2026. The capacity increase comes as Visit Maldives Corporation (VMC) strengthens its airline partnerships, having signed separate memorandums of understanding with Qatar Airways and Emirates during Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2026 in Dubai on 15 September 2026, to expand joint destination marketing and strengthen air links into the Maldives.
Qatar Airways increases Doha–Malé flights to 21 a week
As part of a wider winter 2026-27 expansion that takes Qatar Airways' network past 170 destinations, the airline is increasing Doha–Malé service from 12 to 21 flights a week from 25 October 2026, an increase of nine weekly frequencies. It's one of the larger single-route increases in the airline's winter schedule, alongside added capacity to London, Australia and Phuket.
For anyone planning a Maldives trip through Doha, that's meaningfully more seat availability and more departure-time options during the northern winter, historically the Maldives' busiest and most fare-sensitive season.
New destination-marketing partnerships with Qatar Airways and Emirates
Separately from the capacity increase, VMC signed MoUs with both Qatar Airways and Emirates on 15 September 2026. Both agreements cover joint destination marketing, travel-trade engagement, familiarisation initiatives and coordinated promotional campaigns across the airlines' international networks. The announcements describe marketing cooperation rather than the launch of new routes. VMC's CEO and Managing Director, Abdulla Yasir, framed the partnerships as a way to reach travellers earlier in their planning:

Emirates' Essa Sulaiman Ahmad, Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations, said the airline looks forward to "creating greater awareness of the destination and supporting travel demand from key markets," while Qatar Airways' Hendrik Abraham Du Preez, Vice President for Africa and Global Leisure Sales, signed on behalf of an airline whose Maldives capacity is already growing this winter regardless of the marketing partnership.
What this means if you're planning a Maldives trip
The additional Doha–Malé services should give travellers more schedule and connection options during the winter season. Whether they result in lower fares will still depend on demand, travel dates and how early passengers book. It's also a reminder that flight routing through Doha or Dubai remains one of the more flexible ways to reach Malé from Europe, Africa and parts of Asia, a topic covered in more depth in our guide to Maldives visas, flights and money by country.
We track airline and connectivity developments because they directly affect the routes and arrival times we recommend to travellers. Increased capacity through a major Gulf hub can create more workable connections for guests travelling from markets without direct flights to the Maldives.
