Experienced very severe food poisoning on day 6 of my stay at the Nautilus. Butler was empathetic but what was absolutely unacceptable was the complete absence of any recognition or apology from General Manager Adan Gomez or any of the management team, despite us being there for 2 further days. It’s a tiny resort and was far from full and so there was no excuse not to do so - and to give you a sense of how this hotel truly treats its guests I was even charged for the meal which poisoned me. Perhaps this happens more than they’d like you to know which is why the General Manager didn’t do anything and didn’t seem bothered at all. Appalling treatment and service

Having been to numerous resorts in the Maldives, our experience at The Nautilus was overall decent. However, as an ultra-luxury resort that focuses on exclusivity, we found that nothing in particular stood out or impressed us. It was a good, but rather underwhelming experience.
The property itself is small and private, the modern rooms and facilities are on-par with other top resorts in the world. We all got great sleeping experiences thanks to the comfort of the beds.
However, where the property falls short is the service and general soft-product. To start, our butlers were very standard, carrying out their responsibility well but never going the extra mile that is expected at such a high-end resort. Occasionally, we weren't able to contact our butlers, even when we directly called them.
The dining experience also varies greatly depending on the day. During our stay, we ordered the Maldivian Chicken Curry twice – it came out different both times in terms of flavors and quality. This inconsistency, while minor, greatly affected our dining experience and is something the resort can work on in the future.
It was worth mentioning that the service you received also varied vastly across different staff members. While we were looked after extremely well by staff members like Lotto, this care was lackluster amongst others. Again, this is something that can easily be fixed with more thorough training and better management.
Lastly, we realized that the property's water treatment systems weren't the best. Our bathwater had a slight foul smell, which was also the case with the beach water around the resort. The house reef wasn't anything spectacular or worth mentioning either.
While we had a good time, we left the property with mixed feelings. We would recommend The Nautilus to those truly seeking a private experience that you could get at any beach island in the world, but would strongly advise others to consider other properties such as the Four Seasons at Landaa Giraavaru, all 3 Soneva properties, or even the more trendy Patina if you're looking for true Maldivian hospitality & a top notch experience.

A Slice of Heaven on Earth!
From the moment we arrived at The Nautilus Maldives, we were immersed in pure luxury and warmth. Every detail was thoughtfully curated, and the personalized service was beyond exceptional. Our villa was stunning - spacious, private, and elegantly designed with breathtaking views. The food was incredible, offering a perfect blend of international cuisine and local flavors. What truly set this resort apart was the genuine hospitality we felt not just like guests, but like cherished friends. This was more than a holiday it was a transformative experience. We can’t wait to return! Thank you Nappe and Team for always assuring we were taken care of from every possible aspect. Your kindness and professionalism truly stands out!

The Nautilus is the best luxury hotel in the Maldives, and one of the best I’ve visited in the world. The ‘no time’ concept makes this the perfect place to unwind from busy life. The island is beautiful and feels very private. The quality and selection of food and wine is world class. The hospitality and staff go above and beyond. This has been our second visit and we will be back again. Literal paradise on earth.

Two weeks before we were scheduled to check in for the Nautilus, we received an email from our housemaster Nappe asking what temperature we preferred for our pool, what kind of pillows we slept on, and what we liked to drink. My wife replied to the others, but the last question offered a special opportunity to playfully challenge the staff. I replied with a specific style of beer that reminded me of time spent in Germany. The thoughtfulness put into the introductory questions was impressive, and represented only the first taste of life at the Nautilus.
After 40 hours of commercial flying, my wife and I showed up at the international airport and were greeted by Nappe's colleague, "Tom" who escorted us to their private car "with wifi," gathered our luggage, checked us in for our next flight, and then brought us to their private lounge overlooking the seaplane terminal. We wouldn't have to spend our 30-minute layover bumping elbows with the normies as we were on the 4th floor sipping delicious, bubbly concoctions out of champagne glasses. We were then handed the first of many cold, scented towels. This attention to detail set the tone for the next week.
Years of travel mean that we’ve stayed at some incredible resorts boasting excellent cuisine, but I’ve never experienced a breakfast sushi course next to an assortment of cheeses and croissants before being handed the main breakfast selections. We were instructed to look at their delicious menus for inspiration as to what we wanted to order. We ate Mexican at a Mediterranean restaurant as often as we made up dishes for fun.
Finally, the diving with Hansal, Adam, Paula, and others was world class! Baa Atoll has an Unesco Reserve called Hanifaru Bay where manta rays gather in masses. The day we were there, we saw over 40, but the day before had over 200! Every boat dive was packed with seemingly more fish than water. Sharks and tunas patrolled through shoaling fuseliers and scad, while disorienting numbers of glassfish and anthias clung closer to the reef and sea fans. We even talked the staff into a blackwater dive where we saw larval pipefish and inking squids!
Our pool was 28 degrees, which is the perfect water temperature for casual dipping day or night. Nappe had prepared not one, but two memory foam pillows, and not only did he find me my style of German beer, he stocked the bars with the best brand available for export. Hefeweizens no longer bring back fond memories of Germany; they now remind me of a remarkable week we spent in the Maldives. From the dive staff to the housemasters and waitstaff, the crew at the Nautilus have the attitude, knowledge, and motivation to make anything happen at any time. All you have to do is ask.
